Death Grips – The Money Store

Death Grips – The Money Store
April 21, 2012

This is going to be short, because there really aren’t words for this.  Death Grips’ The Money Store is unlike anything that you have ever heard before.  It’s experimental rap, electronica, and hardcore all rolled into one.  I can’t remember the last time that I heard something that made me honestly think, “I have never heard anything like this before in my life, and I’m really digging it.”  It’s not an easy listen – it’s assaulting on the ears.  The beats don’t always line up, and MC Ride’s vocals are sometimes barely discernible.  But it’s original, and I have no qualms about claiming that I think it is.  It’s loud.  It’ll give you a headache.  It’ll make you feel uneasy.  Sometimes, it’s just necessary.

If you had to listen to two tracks:  The Fever (Aye Aye) / Hustle Bones
