You Owe Me An Explanation!

10/10: A Perfect and flawless record. Few get this distinction.

9/10: A great, impressive record that stands out from the rest of the pack – certainly way better than average.

7-8/10: Lots of great tracks. Throw it on and enjoy it from start to finish.

5-6/10: Decent. Some strong tracks. Some run of the mill tracks. Average.

3-4/10: A throwaway. There may be one or two stronger tracks, but not nearly enough to save the record as a whole.

1-2/10: Bad.

0/10: Not worthy of even being recorded.

What Is NOCODA? Who is NOCODA?

My name is Brandon, and I am a connoisseur of music from Nashville, Tennessee.

Here, you will find one to two minute record reviews that strive to give you, the reader, a dose of reality when it comes to the never-ending plethora of musical options that we, as the general public, have available to us. I love nostalgia, so I'm sure you'll get some personal relations to the records along the way as well.

Also, it is important to note that I am a firm believer in holding a physical copy of a record in my hands before I review it, so any review you see posted, rest assured that I didn't simply stream it off Spotify. I paid money for it, and not in the form of a download.

I strive to be transparent, readable, and entertaining. You won't find me writing for Pitchfork and trying to convey to you how some bass player from some underground indie/rockabilly/shoegaze band has a playing style that relates to another indie/rockabilly/shoegaze band from 1983 that never even released a proper record and only played 5 shows in the course of their "career".

Yes, that sentence was too long.

Yes, I will attempt not to do that in the reviews.

Thank you for reading.
